Catastrophic Injury Solicitor - 2+ PQE
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a national Large Loss team that provides expert, specialist legal services in high-value and technically complex insurance claims. The team handles cases valued in excess of £150,000, including catastrophic injuries and claims of the utmost severity, with overall client reserves exceeding £800 million.
The caseload is varied and includes Motor, Employers Liability, Public Liability and Product Liability matters. Typical cases involve brain, spinal and amputation injuries, chronic pain/FND, as well as substantial dependency and fatality claims. The team is also vigilant in investigating and defending fraud, regardless of claim value.
We are seeking a Solicitor with circa 2+ years PQE to join the team.
The Role
You will work closely with partners on catastrophic injury cases while also managing your own caseload, with opportunities to take on matters up to £500,000 in value. The role offers a mix of responsibility, autonomy, and scope to contribute to the development of junior team members.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist partners and manage a caseload of catastrophic and high-value personal injury matters.
Undertake investigations, prepare strategy reports, and liaise with clients.
Work with insurers, solicitors, experts, police, HSE, and witnesses to gather evidence.
Draft correspondence, reports, reserve sheets, and action plans.
Attend hearings, conferences, JSMs, and other case-related events.
Supervise and support the development of junior team members.
Ensure compliance with CPR, rehabilitation protocols, and data protection.
Keep up to date with developments in defendant personal injury law.
Achieve financial and chargeable targets/KPIs.
About You
Qualified Solicitor with c. 2+ PQE.
Experience in defendant personal injury litigation (Motor preferred, EL/PL also considered).
Previous exposure to high-value Large Loss work is beneficial but not essential.
Strong technical ability with knowledge of CPR procedures.
Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to work under pressure.
Able to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently.
Enthusiastic, proactive, and keen to develop within a specialist area of law.
If you are looking to develop your career in catastrophic injury and high-value insurance litigation, we would be delighted to hear from you.
