I am currently working with a highly regarded and growing law firm that is looking to recruit a Clinical Negligence Paralegal to join its expanding team in Liverpool. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven and committed paralegal who is passionate about delivering a high standard of client care and supporting complex, meaningful clinical negligence work.
The role will suit someone who enjoys working with a high level of responsibility, using initiative and self-management to support fee earners and ensure matters progress efficiently and effectively.
The Role
You will provide direct support to a team of fee earners, playing a key role in the day-to-day management of clinical negligence files. The position offers hands-on exposure to a broad range of work, including pre- and post-issue matters, client interaction and liaison with experts and counsel.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting fee earners with all aspects of case management
Taking detailed liability and quantum statements from clients at the outset of claims
Taking and drafting witness and client statements
Representing clients at hearings where appropriate rights of audience apply and subject to experience
Progress chasing and dealing with routine correspondence under supervision
Reviewing medical records, considering limitation issues and ensuring records are complete and paginated
Drafting letters of instruction to medical experts
Assisting with early quantification of claims and gathering financial information for schedules of loss
Providing regular updates to clients by telephone and in person in line with high client care standards
Negotiating with third parties and relevant stakeholders to support the best outcomes for clients
Assisting with post-issue work including liaising with barristers, preparing bundles and pre-trial documentation
Drafting documentation such as schedules of loss, PAD applications and other relevant papers
Assessing quantum and attending conferences with counsel
Maintaining confidentiality of all client and firm information
Attending client meetings alongside solicitors
Undertaking additional duties as required within the scope of the role
About You
Experience or knowledge of the Clinical Negligence Pre-Action Protocol
Strong interpersonal and client care skills
Confident telephone manner
Highly organised with the ability to prioritise workloads independently
Law degree essential, with LPC preferred
Proactive, adaptable and keen to develop within clinical negligence
