The Team
You will join an award-winning Clinical Negligence team with an excellent reputation in the Yorkshire market. The team is made up of experienced, high-calibre lawyers who provide strong supervision and a genuinely collaborative working environment. This is a team that encourages development, welcomes questions, and values individual input.
Role Overview
- Running a caseload of claimant Clinical Negligence matters, all of which are multi-track
- Managing files from initial instruction through to conclusion and archiving
- Advising clients clearly and sensitively throughout the life of the claim
- Instructing counsel and medical or other experts as required
- Preparing pleadings, evidence and other key documentation
- Undertaking advocacy and attending court where appropriate
- Supporting colleagues with discrete tasks as your caseload develops
- Contributing to business development and maintaining referral relationships
Caseload size is dictated by complexity, typically fewer than 40 active matters, with paralegal and secretarial support provided.
Candidate Profile
- Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with 2-6 years PQE
- Experience running a claimant Clinical Negligence caseload, either exclusively or predominantly
- Strong client care skills and the ability to explain complex issues clearly
- Technically competent, well organised and deadline focused
- Commercially aware and committed to delivering high-quality legal services
- APIL accreditation (Litigator or Senior Litigator) in line with experience
