A senior private client appointment within a well-established regional firm, based in Shrewsbury. This is a growth-focused role, offering the opportunity to take a visible position locally and contribute to the continued development of a well-regarded wills, trusts and tax practice.

About the Firm
The firm has a strong reputation for private client work, with long-standing relationships across the region and a consistent flow of high-quality instructions. Its private client team is collaborative and well supported across multiple offices, with a clear commitment to investing in the Shrewsbury offering.

Role Overview
You'll take a senior role within the private client team in Shrewsbury, acting as a key point of contact for local clients and referrers. The position involves developing and strengthening the firm's presence in the Shropshire market, with support from an established wider team. You'll build and maintain relationships with IFAs, accountants and other professional advisers, while also contributing to the supervision and development of junior lawyers. The role includes working closely with colleagues across the firm on broader private client matters and longer-term planning.

The Work
You'll handle a high-quality caseload of private client matters, including wills and estate planning for high net worth individuals, inheritance tax and capital gains tax planning, and more complex work involving agricultural and business property relief. The role also includes trusts and succession planning, alongside ongoing instructions generated through established professional referrer relationships.

Candidate Profile
This role is likely to suit either an existing private client partner seeking a senior, visible position with autonomy, or a senior associate around 8+ PQE who is ready to step into a partner-level role. You'll have strong technical experience across wills, trusts and tax, with solid knowledge of IHT and CGT planning, ideally including agricultural and business relief. STEP qualification would be advantageous. You should be comfortable with relationship-led work, confident engaging with referrers, and able to support the development of more junior colleagues.

Offer and Benefits
Competitive package aligned with the regional market. There is flexibility around structure and remuneration for the right individual, including potential for equity participation at partner level. The role is primarily office-based in Shrewsbury, reflecting the client base and seniority of the position, with some flexibility available where appropriate.

What now?
An initial conversation can take place discreetly, and you don't need a CV to start.
