Overview
An opportunity has arisen for an Employment Solicitor to join a well-established North West law firm's public sector employment team, based in Preston. The role has been created to support increasing demand across education, housing and local authority work, with a particular focus on employment tribunal matters and advisory support for public sector clients.
This is a varied position offering a mix of contentious and non-contentious employment work within a collaborative and supportive team environment.

Role Overview
- Managing a varied caseload of public sector employment matters, primarily involving education, housing and local authority clients
- Advising on employment tribunal claims including unfair dismissal, discrimination, TUPE and redundancy matters
- Representing clients at tribunal hearings and supporting advocacy preparation
- Attending internal client hearings including disciplinaries, grievances, dismissals and appeals
- Drafting clear written advice and managing communications with clients, tribunals and third parties
- Delivering training sessions and employment law updates to clients and stakeholders
- Supporting senior lawyers on complex matters and contributing to wider departmental objectives
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships across the public sector
Candidate Profile
- Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with up to 4 years' PQE as a guide
- Previous experience handling employment tribunal matters is essential
- Experience advising on unfair dismissal, discrimination, TUPE and redundancy matters
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines effectively
- Comfortable working collaboratively within a team environment
- Previous advocacy experience would be beneficial but is not essential
- Experience working with education, housing or local authority clients would be advantageous
