A Family Solicitor is wanted in Oswestry to help meet increased demand across a supportive family team.
About the firm
This high street firm has offices in Wrexham, Chester and Oswestry. Its family practice has around eight lawyers and is sometimes supported by trainees. The firm has targets, but aims to manage and support its people in an encouraging way.
The role
- Handle a broad family caseload, with a focus on private matrimonial and private children matters.
- Work with clients across the North Shropshire area, including farming and equestrian families.
- Take on some legal aid work, although this makes up less of the Oswestry practice than it does in Wrexham.
- Join a team managing increased demand during maternity leave, with the expectation that the workload will support the role beyond that period.
- Work from one of the firm's Oswestry offices, including a newer office with open-plan space.
- Discuss working arrangements individually. New starters are generally expected to work from the office initially, though earlier homeworking may be considered where commuting makes it necessary.
About you
The firm is open to solicitors at different stages of their career. The right level will depend on your experience and ability, so a specific PQE range isn't set.
You'll need experience in family law and an interest in handling a varied caseload across matrimonial and private children work. Some legal aid experience may be useful, but the balance of work in Oswestry is more heavily private than in Wrexham.
The offer
The salary guide is £40,000-£50,000, depending on experience and ability. The firm sees scope for progression, and working arrangements can be discussed individually.
