Overview
This is an opportunity for an experienced Private Client lawyer to take responsibility for an established practice and have a genuine say in what happens next. With the current head of department moving towards retirement, The MD is looking for someone who can take over the practice while helping to develop its Private Client presence in Liverpool.
About the Firm
This is an established North West law firm with offices in St Helens, Runcorn and Widnes. The firm is looking to develop its presence in Liverpool and this appointment forms part of that opportunity.
Rather than simply looking for someone to inherit an existing caseload, the firm wants an experienced lawyer who has ideas about how a Private Client practice should be run and developed.
Role Overview
* Take responsibility for an established Private Client practice generating approximately £350,000 in annual fees.
* Handle a varied caseload including wills, probate and estate administration, trusts, tax planning and lasting powers of attorney.
* Work alongside the existing head of department, during a planned transition as he moves towards retirement.
* Have the opportunity to influence the direction and development of the department.
* Help develop the firm's Private Client presence in Liverpool.
* Play an active role in client development and business development.
Candidate Profile
There is deliberately no fixed PQE requirement for this appointment.
The firm is looking for an experienced Private Client lawyer with a strong grounding across wills, probate, estate administration and related private client matters, together with the technical ability and confidence to take responsibility for a department.
Previous management experience would be useful, but the firm will also consider someone who has reached the stage where they are ready to take on that responsibility.
Just as importantly, this will suit someone who wants some influence over how a practice develops rather than simply moving to another senior fee-earning position.

There is flexibility around hybrid working, although regular office presence will be important given the nature of the position.
