Thornton Legal is working with an established North West law firm seeking to appoint an experienced commercial property litigation specialist to take a leading role within its disputes practice.
This is an opportunity for a lawyer who wants greater ownership of their work, closer involvement with significant clients and the chance to influence the development of a specialist property litigation offering.
Importantly, there is already a substantial flow of instructions. The successful candidate will not be expected to build a practice from scratch or arrive with an established client following.
The Opportunity
The firm has an established commercial disputes practice and a separate commercial property team. It is now looking to strengthen its specialist property litigation capability through a senior appointment.
The work includes a significant volume of landlord and tenant disputes for an established property client, alongside other property-related litigation. Matters can be technically complex, with some involving substantial values and proceedings in the higher courts.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to:
- Take responsibility for a substantial existing property litigation caseload.
- Manage complex commercial landlord and tenant disputes independently.
- Develop relationships with established clients and act as a senior point of contact.
- Work closely with colleagues across commercial litigation and commercial property.
- Contribute to the development and growth of the firm's specialist property litigation practice.
- Play an influential role in shaping the future direction of this area of work.
Who We're Looking For
We're interested in speaking with experienced property litigation solicitors who have developed a strong technical background in commercial landlord and tenant disputes.
Relevant experience might include lease renewals, forfeiture, dilapidations, possession proceedings, breaches of covenant and other complex property disputes.
You'll need to be comfortable taking responsibility for significant matters, advising commercial clients and managing litigation with a high degree of independence.
The firm is open-minded about the level of appointment. An established Senior Associate, Legal Director or Partner could all be considered, depending on experience and the contribution they could make.
The priority is finding a technically capable lawyer who can take ownership of the work and develop strong client relationships.
