A Harrogate-based property investment and management business is looking to appoint its first in-house Commercial Property Solicitor on a permanent basis. The role has been created as part of a wider transformation programme and reflects a clear long-term commitment to building internal legal capability as the business continues to invest and grow.
About the firm
The business owns and manages a substantial commercial property portfolio, including retail parks and other commercial assets across Yorkshire, London, and further regions. It is a long-established organisation with significant recent investment in digitisation, internal systems, and operational infrastructure, offering a professional and collaborative working environment with direct access to senior stakeholders.
Role overview
* Acting as the day-to-day in-house legal contact for commercial property matters
* Managing leases, renewals, variations, break options, and licences to occupy
* Handling landlord-side transactional and asset management work
* Supporting property acquisitions, disposals, and investment projects
* Working closely with finance and property teams to support commercial decisions
* Instructing and managing external solicitors on specialist or high-value matters
Candidate profile
This role is likely to suit an experienced commercial property solicitor, around c.6+ PQE as a guide, who is comfortable operating independently and taking ownership of matters from instruction through to completion. Candidates may come from private practice or an in-house background, but should have strong transactional commercial property experience and a practical, commercially focused approach.
You will be confident acting as the sole in-house legal adviser, working directly with senior decision-makers, and balancing legal risk with commercial objectives.
Offer and benefits
* Competitive salary, commensurate with experience
* Permanent, full-time position
* Harrogate office location, next to the train station
* Four days office-based, Fridays working from home
* 35-hour working week, Monday to Friday
* Collaborative, low-ego culture with direct access to decision-makers
