This is a senior private client role within a well-established Manchester team, aimed at an experienced lawyer with genuine depth in personal tax. The position sits at Senior Associate or Principal Associate level and supports the continued growth of a regional and national private client practice advising high and ultra-high net worth individuals on complex, tax-led matters.
About the firm
The firm is known for its strong private client capability nationally, with a reputation for technical rigour, collaborative working and long-term client relationships. The Manchester office continues to invest steadily in its private client offering, with a clear focus on quality of advice rather than volume of work.
Role overview
You will take responsibility for a varied caseload of technically complex private client matters, where tax planning is central rather than peripheral. The role involves working closely with partners on high-value and often multi-disciplinary instructions, providing hands-on advice rather than overseeing it at arm's length. You'll advise on estate, succession and long-term planning for individuals and families, and regularly work alongside accountants, IFAs, family offices and other professional advisers. You'll also support and mentor junior lawyers, contributing to both the technical strength and culture of the Manchester team.
Candidate profile
This role is likely to suit a private client lawyer with around 7+ PQE as a guide, with strong experience in personal tax. You should be comfortable handling complex inheritance tax and capital gains tax advice, trusts and fiduciary matters, and property ownership and structuring issues. Experience advising high-value clients is important, as is the ability to explain sophisticated tax advice clearly and pragmatically. STEP membership, or equivalent experience, is highly desirable.
Offer and benefits
The firm offers a competitive salary and benefits package, aligned with senior associate level. Flexible working is supported in line with firm policy. There's a clear and credible progression pathway for the right individual, with partnership considered over time based on technical excellence, client relationships and contribution to the wider practice.
