Private Client Solicitor (STEP Qualified or Working Towards)

I'm currently working with a well-established and highly regarded law firm in Staffordshire that is looking to recruit an experienced Private Client Solicitor to join its growing Private Client team.
This role would suit a solicitor with at least 3 years' PQE who has strong experience in wills, probate and estate planning, and who is either STEP qualified or actively working towards STEP membership. The firm acts for a broad range of clients, including high-net-worth individuals, and offers high-quality, varied private client work.
The Role:
You will manage your own private client caseload, including:
- Wills, probate and estate administration matters
- Trusts, inheritance tax planning and estate planning
- Lasting Powers of Attorney and, where appropriate, Court of Protection work
- Advising clients on succession planning, asset protection and complex estate structures
- Drafting wills, trusts, deeds of variation and related private client documentation
- Administering both taxable and non-taxable estates from instruction through to distribution
- Providing clear, practical and sensitive advice to clients, often in emotional circumstances
- Identifying legal, tax and practical risks and advising clients accordingly
- Developing strong client relationships and contributing to repeat and new business
- Supporting cross-referrals with other departments, including Property and Litigation
- Managing files in line with regulatory and compliance requirements, including AML, Data Protection and SRA Standards and Regulations
About You:
To be considered, you will ideally have:
- Qualification as a Solicitor in England and Wales
- At least 3 years' PQE in Wills, Probate and Private Client
- STEP qualification or actively working towards STEP
- Experience managing a full private client caseload independently
- Strong experience with estate administration, including IHT reporting and taxable estates
- A solid understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements
- Experience of billing, time recording and working to financial targets
- Excellent drafting skills and strong attention to detail
- A professional, empathetic and client-focused approach
