A Commercial Litigation Solicitor (5-6+ PQE) is sought to join an established Altrincham-based law firm. The role has arisen due to an increase in disputes work, alongside the departure of an Assistant Solicitor. The team is therefore looking to strengthen its High Court capability and support longer term succession planning with a solicitor able to run matters independently and assist on more complex cases.
This is a visible, hands on position within a growing disputes team, with genuine long-term opportunity.
The Firm
This is a well established local practice acting for companies and private individuals across a broad range of contentious matters. The firm maintains a straightforward, client-focused approach and operates as a close-knit team.
The disputes department works collaboratively, with direct access to senior decision-makers and clear lines of responsibility.
The firm will shortly be relocating offices within Altrincham, remaining the same distance from train, tram and bus links, and slightly closer to the main shopping area.
The Role
Managing a caseload of Company and Commercial Litigation matters
Handling Insurance and indemnity disputes
Advising on professional regulatory compliance issues
Running High Court matters independently where appropriate
Assisting the Directors on more complex, multi-track litigation with the expectation of progressing to lead responsibility
Supporting and working alongside a Trainee Solicitor and Legal Assistant within the team
The team currently comprises two directors, one solicitor, one trainee solicitor and a legal assistant. The incoming lawyer will play a key role in strengthening capacity and experience within the department.
Candidate Profile
Likely to suit around 5-6+ PQE as a guide.
You will:
Have demonstrable High Court experience
Be confident running multi-track litigation matters
Be comfortable acting for companies and private individuals
Show sound procedural knowledge and strong drafting skills
Be capable of working in an office-based environment five days per week
This role will particularly suit someone looking to take on greater responsibility within a smaller team environment, rather than operating as one of many in a larger disputes department.
Offer and Benefits
Salary from £60,000 for circa 5 years' PQE, with scope upwards depending on experience and the value you bring to the practice
Office-based role (5 days per week)
Clear involvement in succession planning for the right individual
