Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 DOE

A well-established and expanding regional law firm is seeking an experienced Contentious Probate Solicitor to join its growing Private Client team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated solicitor with strong technical expertise in inheritance and estate disputes to take on a varied caseload within a supportive and progressive environment.

The Opportunity:

The successful candidate will handle a broad range of contentious probate matters including:

Will disputes and challenges
Inheritance Act claims
Executor and trustee disputes
Estate administration conflicts

You will work closely with clients on often sensitive and emotional matters, providing pragmatic and commercially focused advice while aiming to achieve the best possible outcomes through negotiation, mediation, or litigation where necessary.

The role is initially office based, moving to hybrid working following successful completion of probation.

Key Responsibilities:

Managing your own contentious probate caseload from instruction to conclusion
Advising clients on litigation strategy, costs, and risk
Drafting pleadings, witness statements, correspondence, and settlement agreements
Liaising with counsel, experts, courts, and opposing solicitors
Preparing matters for mediation and litigation
Ensuring files are progressed efficiently and compliantly
Supporting and mentoring junior team members
Contributing to the ongoing growth of the department

About You:

The ideal candidate will have:

Qualified Solicitor status with 5+ years' PQE
Strong experience in contentious probate and inheritance disputes
Excellent technical and drafting skills
The ability to manage files independently with minimal supervision
Strong communication and client care skills
A calm, professional, and solutions-focused approach
A collaborative mindset and willingness to support team development
